Habilitation Services: The Division of Habilitation Services operates a county wide recycling program, which provides employment to those extremely disabled individuals working in the Habilitation Workshop.  A confidential document shredding service and “Mail Wizards” bulk mailing service are also businesses that employ those individuals at the Habilitation Workshop.  Our licensed and insured Secured Shredding Services destroys confidential documents and provides a certificate of destruction.  The cost is 25 cents per pound and this price includes picking-up materials.  Our bulk mailing services, include folding literature, affixing address labels and permits, tabbing, stuffing and sealing envelope and delivery to the Post Office.  The cost is 1 cent per item plus 3 cents per item for sorting, bundling and counting.  928-782-9544 Extension 15

Employment Services: The Division of Employment Services exists to help individuals with disabilities recognize the economic benefits of long-term competitive employment.  We provide services to match each individual’s career interest as well as their physical, cognitive and emotional abilities in order for the individual to gain independence and self-sufficiency.  Services provided include Work Adjustment Training and Employment Services including Job Preparation/Job Development, Job Placement, 90-Day Retention, and Supported Employment.  928-782-9544 Extension 11

Transition Services: The Transition Services Division is known as “A Community Transition Initiative” (ACT I).  Transition Services promote movement from school to post-school activities, including prevocational training, integrated/supported employment, independent living or community participation.  Activities may include instruction, community experiences, the development of prevocational skills and other post-school adult living objectives, and, when appropriate, acquisition of daily living skills and vocational evaluation.

To be eligible for the program, students must have a documented disability and be receiving special education services under IDEA; be able to benefit from services offered; not present a danger to self, others or property; and be willing to attend their program according to the assigned schedule.  928-317-9301

Facility Services: The Facility Services Division provides custodial and grounds maintenance services.  We are licensed and bonded and offer a full range of services including mold remediation, pre and post construction cleaning and restoration cleaning.  We offer excellent quality and cost effective services using experienced professionals, individuals with disabilities and the industry’s best products and equipment.

Our organization has close working relationships with state and federal agencies via contracts.  Contracting through the Javits Wagner, O’Day Act provides many of the jobs we use to employ individuals with disabilities.  We also work with non-contractual customers such as restaurants, offices, and construction companies throughout the community.  These relationships demonstrate our professionalism, dependability and diversity.  928-341-1231

Additional Information
In 1973, a group of Yuma citizens with developmentally and/or physically disabled children and relatives worked together to create what is now known as the Yuma WORC (Work, Opportunity, Responsibility, Confidence) Center, Inc. The founding members knew their disabled children had the ability to contribute to society and lead a greater quality of life. The Yuma WORC Center was established on the principle that the disabled population could work, draw a paycheck, and contribute to the local tax rolls. Many employment opportunities have been created and acquired in an attempt to give the local disabled community a chance for independence.

Yuma WORC Center, Inc. is a community rehabilitation program, which provides vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities enabling those individuals to maximize their opportunities for employment, including career advancement. Our organization provides these services through various federal, state, local, and private contracts and has been the premier provider of employment and employment-related services to individuals with disabilities in Southwest Arizona.

Currently four businesses are operated through the Yuma WORC Center with the express purpose of employing the disabled. Federal contracting through the Javits Wagner, O’Day program provides many of the jobs used to employ the disabled population of Yuma. Current contracts for building maintenance services are performed for the Department of Defense, the Defense Commissary Agency, U.S. Border Patrol, and the Bureau of Land Management. Additionally, the county wide recycling program is operated by the organization, providing employment to those extremely disabled individuals working in the Habilitation Workshop. A confidential document shredding service (Secured Shredding Services) and bulk mailing service (Mail Wizards) are also businesses that employ those in the workshop.
