Values

Springbrook homes works to achieve its vision and implement its mission by employing the values stated below.

  • Strong Family Ties – We will support families in developing and maintaining a meaningful, healthy, strong and ongoing relationship with their son or daughter.  We believe that families of children with disabilities must be encouraged, assisted and entrusted to make choices and decisions about their families’ lives.  When a person with a disability emancipates to adult life and desires to maintain a relationship with his or her family this must be supported fully.  We will support families to be the center of decision making.
  • Unconditional Positive Relationships – We will strive to recognize people’s strengths and be positive in our attitude.  We will demonstrate that positive regard in our writings and conversations with or about the people we support no matter how much we are challenged by their behavior or lifestyle choices.
  • Professionalism – We will provide the people we serve with guidance, coaching, modeling and support rather than supervising, controlling, guarding or care taking and will strive for win/win situations that assist people with disabilities to reach their preferred future.
  • Valued and Effective Outcomes – We will measure our success by relating to those things that are important to the person we support and that further the vision and mission.  We will strive to identify effective methods and practices and incorporate them into our operations.
  • Individual Choice - We will establish individualized plans and supports based on the expressed wants and needs of the people with disabilities and their families.  The people we support will be encouraged, assisted and entrusted to make choices and decisions about their lives and contribute to all aspects of their home and community life.
  • Diversity – We will strive to create an environment rich in diversity in which each person (individual with disabilities, family member or employee) is respected and has the opportunity to reach their optimal potential.
  • Developmental Approaches – We will strive to change conditions that affect people rather than try to change people who are affected by conditions.
  • Partnership – We will strive to have ongoing open and honest communications with individuals, family members, advocates, other providers, the DDD District and Division and our community while working cooperatively to support people with disabilities.
  • Consistency in Support – The quality of our support will be consistent with our vision, mission and values and we will strive to use the community as the vehicle in which our supports provide.
  • Dedication – We will strive to connect with the people we support on a meaningful and personal level.  We will work to be seen as a friend and advocate.  We will not categorize people negatively for the mistakes they make but instead positively reward them for the efforts they achieve.
  • Responsive and Respectful – We will be responsive to the unique talents, desires and needs of each individual as they change over time and will respect each individual’s personal values, practices and cultural preferences.  We will honor people’s wants, needs and choices and refrain from imposing our own lifestyles, preferences and judgments on those choices.
  • Health, Safety, Stability and Personal Security – We will strive to support people to have healthy lives, physically, mentally and spiritually.  We will work to make people feel safe and secure by increasing an individual’s personal dignity, self reliance, competence and self-esteem.  We will help individuals with disabilities to remain and thrive in safe and secure situations without the fear of losing their homes, job funding or being turned in to the police as a form of natural consequence.
Natural Supports and Social Networks – We will use the natural supports and social networks to the maximum extent possible.
