Additional Information
Good Neighbor Support Services is contracted to assist members of the
Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and the Department
of Economic Security (DES) to provide non-medical services for a variety
of health care plans. We work directly with the member's case manager to
provide the authorized care.
Our mission is to provide professional service and support to the
members and their families who have been entrusted to our care. We meet
that trust by following the guidelines and rules established by Federal,
State and local Agencies. We have faithfully committed to carry out this
mission since 2001.
Home Based Services:
Our Home Based Services Division provides caregivers to assist members
with their activities of daily living so they may remain in the comfor
of their own homes. The members have qualified either through the
Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) or Arizona Long Term Care
Services (ALTCS).
Services are authorized by the member's case manager.
Some of the services available to a member may include:
-
Personal Care- Assist the member with bathing, grooming, dressing,
toileting, eating, and medication reminders.
-
Homemaker Services- Assist the member with grocery shopping, meal
preparation, laundry and light housekeeping, i.e. sweeping, mopping,
dusting, vacuuming.
-
Attendant Care- A combination of Personal Care and Homemaker Services.
-
Habilitation- Teaching life skills to adults and children with
developmental disabilities such as tying shoes, hand washing, brushing
of teeth, dressing, and personal safety.
-
Respite- Provides relief for the member's primary caregiver. We also
provide emergency respite for adults and children with developmental
disabilities in a certified respite home.
Programs for Adults and Children with Developmental Disabilities:
Good Neighbor transports members to our Day Treatment and Training
Centers. We offer a wide variety of learning programs and support services for
adults and children with developmental disabilities who have qualified
for these services through the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).
Activities include:
Job Skills Training
Social Activities Include:
Drop-off respite is available at both program locations every Saturday
from 8:00am to 3:00pm.
Licensing Assistance for Adult and Child Developmental Homes:
Good Neighbor is licensed to qualify Adult and Child Developmental
homes. On occasion a child or adult with special needs is not able to remain in
their own home with their family. Instead of institutionalization, a
licensed developmental home is preferred. The individual will live with
a resource family. This arrangement is usually for a few months to a
year while re-integration with their family is attempted. In some cases
it is possible for the arrangement with the resource family to become
permanent through the adoption process.
Below is a partial list of services and certifications we provide to
qualify the home and the resource parents:
-
Arizona Statutes
-
CPR and First Aid
-
Fingerprint Clearance for all persons in the resource home over the age
of 18.
-
Family Profile and Home Assessment
-
Other training or certification as required.
Direct Support Staff Training:
Direct Support Staff provide hands-on care to our assigned members. Good
Neighbor's training meets or exceeds the standards set by AHCCCS and
DES/DDD. Good Neighbor conducts training classes on a weekly basis.
These classes are conducted in Spanish on request. Our instructors are
highly qualified to certify Direct Support Staff in the following areas:
We hire the highest quality staff possible. Each participant is screened
prior to employment, including criminal history investigation and
