Additional Information

“The Community”
AmeriServe International, Inc. serves persons with special needs through a mechanism called the “Community”.  It is a loose community where persons can move freely as needed from one type of support to another.  A sense of community and belonging is important to successful lifestyle development and maintenance.  Persons with special needs can easily be overlooked thus becoming isolated.  As they become isolated, the result is dependency. Through natural supports persons with special needs become known, become connected, build relationships, and become interdependent. Within a "Community", as needs change, support options within the “Community” become available so that the individual remains in a consistent, connected environment.

The Four Principles of Living
Living styles are different for each individual.  Because each person defines their life needs with different components, one pattern for everyone would be unacceptable. What may be quality living for one person could easily be drudgery for another. Quality living has four core principles that assist in making a lifestyle operational: choice, respect, presence and participation.  Understanding the importance of each in relationship to creating lifestyle is essential to creating and supporting options for the success of persons who have special needs. Being able to develop a lifestyle of self-selection and self-direction is the foundation of what makes AmeriServe International, Inc. “The People Company”.

The AmeriServe International Way
AmeriServe International, Inc. carefully selects all personnel to ensure that they possess beliefs, experiences, skills, and knowledge that will assist persons with special needs in exercising a quality of life of their choice.  Acceptance of an appointment to a position indicates the acceptance to enthusiastically support and a willingness to execute to the best of their ability the three fundamental beliefs of AmeriServe International, Inc.: The Paradigm of Rights, The Principles of Living and The Practice of Active Life Long Learning.  These foundations empower every colleague to make decisions and feel confident that his or her effort is an appropriate and effective element of the services we provide. Additional support is provided by the framework, philosophy, and tenets of Article 9 of the Rules and Regulations, Arizona DES/DDD. All of these are together interdependent and key components of what is “The AmeriServe International Way” -- the people company.
