Mission Statement
Y.E.S. the Arc was founded on the philosophy that all people are capable of growth and learning. It is our goal to provide the
training and opportunities that will maximize that growth towards the greatest independence possible for each individual.
Our agency began in 1974 as a school for mentally retarded children. The children's program is now a part of the public school system while we have expanded into adult programs as indicated by community needs. Today we serve developmentally disabled adults in day treatment and training, independent living skills, the arts and in vocational settings at the agency and throughout the community.
We value the development and foster of personal relationships with family and friends, along with individual and family initiative in making choices and expressing client preferences.
Y.E.S. the Arc also supports equal access to quality service and support for all our clients.
Y.E.S. the Arc offers programs and services that support and enhance client independence, self-esteem, mutual respect, value and dignity. Opportunities, programs and services are designed and developed in partnership with clients, family members, fiduciaries and community members. These programs and services are provided through a comprehensive group home and community-based system that recognizes and supports cultural diversity.

Additional Information
Y.E.S. the Arc has been providing services since 1974. We are celebrating our 25th Anniversary December 10th, 1999. Throughout the 25 years the Arc has provided programs that have reflected the needs of the communities. Change and growth are two key words associated with the Arc's name.
-
We have developed a strong community networking
system with other Social Services Agencies, Public School Systems,
City Government, Businesses, County Board of Supervisors, Work
Force Development Council, and the Northern Arizona Council of
Government.
Through our Board of Directors, we have provided
opportunities for families to participate as Board Members. At least
fifty percent of our Board Members are parents or family members.
We have served as a strong advocate to families and
clients of the Arc and also families who have children in the public
school system.
We provide a unique Art Program for our clients
which has resulted in developing exceptional abilities in them.
Our Habilitation Program allows
clients to live independently in their own apartments. Another part
of our Habilitation Program gives assistance to clients training in
their families home.
Our Residential Services in
the group homes allows for maximum independence for the clients and
a feeling of security for their families.
-
Transportation is a major issue in rural areas.
Our Transportation Services provide many miles of transportation
for our Day Program, Recreation Program, Jobs Program, and
Residential Services.
-
We received a one time grant from the County Board
of Supervisors to
provide an outstanding RECREATIONAL PROGRAM, which has included
participating in sports, attending major sporting events,
concerts, live plays, train rides, trips to Laughlin and many
other social events. The Recreation Program will continue through
the year 2000 by funds donated through United Way of Yavapai
County.
We here at the Arc believe that Expanded Opportunities
Give Brighter Realities for Persons With Developmental Disabilities.
