Additional Information
The majority of individuals we serve face developmental disabilities, autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, and mental retardation. We also serve individuals with severe physical and neurological disabilities resulting from spinal cord injury or other traumatic injuries.

Our Special Education School places an emphasis on small class size, a low student/staff ratio and innovative curricula that include the provision of rehabilitation, occupational, physical and speech therapies, along with daily living skills instruction.

The objective of our Adult Day Treatment and Training Program is to help people with developmental and physical disabilities develop skills and acquire knowledge that will enable them to achieve their maximum potential for independent living.

We provide on-site vocational services for up to 65 people each day in our Center-Based Employment Workshop and Job Training and Placement Programs. Our Center-Based Employment Workshop provides paying jobs in a controlled environment for adult men and women whose disabilities require more instruction and supervision than is provided in community-based settings. Our Job Training and Community-Based Placement Program offers assessment, training, placement and support services for persons with disabilities who have the desire and capacity to obtain competitive employment in the community workforce.

We have an in-house Transportation Department utilizing 20 vans, which transport clients to and from their residences, as well as on field trips and other community based activities.

Unique to Gompers Habilitation Center are two additional points of interest: Our Dental Clinic provides a comprehensive array of services ranging from X-rays, screenings and cleanings to restorative work such as fillings, root canals and crowns. Similarly, Gompers Habilitation Center is one of the few rehabilitation facilities and private schools in the country to feature an in-house physical therapy program which utilizes a state of the art warm water pool. The use of our pool and therapy services is also now available to the public on a private pay basis.
